Client: Lamar Outdoor Advertising Architect: J. Veal Pensacola, Florida Description: Lamar Corporation has their Connecticut headquarters located in Hartford, CT. Their existing building consisted of 3057 s.f. of office space and 3235 s.f. shop area. To accomodate their expanding operations, Lamar contracted Architectural Building Systems to gut the building's interior, provide selective demolition, upgrade their utility services from the street line, add an addition to the side of the building, reconstruct the interior and provide new finishes throughout the building's interior and exterior. The project has been completed well ahead of the owner's allotted time frame.
Client: Jerome Home New Britain, CT Architect: Kenyon & Cutler Architects Avon, CT Description: Jerome Home is a large elderly care facility that was established over 100 years ago. Recently, the Jerome Home signed on Architectural Building Systems to erect a new addition to their facility, to be used as a dining room. Although the addition is small by dimensional standards, approximately 826 s.f., it is unique and complex in its design. Jerome Home needed a contractor with the ability handle a coordination-intense project. More importantly, they needed a contractor who also had the expertise to complete the work while being sensitive to the needs and privacy of the Jerome Home's residents and staff. Architectural Building Systems was the perfect fit. The addition, which was being added to the second floor, has a 180 degree radiused facad with a full window wall running along the entire perimeter. It overhangs an existing terrace by cantelevering over it, thereby leaving the functional outdoor terrace below it in tact. The challenges to this project were numerous, and ABS was up to the task.
Client: New Britain General Hospital Architect:Jacunski Humes Architects, LLC Newington, CT Description:Addressing the need to expand their busy MRI Center and to provide their patients with the latest MRI technology, New Britain General Hospital contracted with Architectural Building Systems to build a new MRI exam room and expand the existing facilities. Building a MRI exam room is complex and coordination-intense. Only anti-static and non-metallic materials could be used, and all work installed to work in harmony with a RF (Radio Frequency) Shielding system. In addition, the schedule had to be coordinated to work around the mandatory delivery date of the MRI unit. During the renovations the existing MRI facility had to remain open and accessible to the hospital's staff and patients. Given our extensive experience handling coordination-intense, time sensitive work, Architectural Building Sytems was prepared for the challenge.
In addition to the above-listed projects, Architectural Building Systems has numerous other projects underway. These projects include several jobs at Bristol-Meyers in Wallingford, for New Boston Management, American Express, New Britain General Hospital, Crown Properties and Bradley Memorial Hospital, among others.
